On March 19th, 2019, the Ontario Coalition for Abortion Clinics and Humanist Canada launched the Dr. Henry Morgentaler Memorial Scholarship. 

Dr. Morgentaler’s support of women’s reproductive rights included education of doctors.  This $1,000 scholarship will assist physicians who are training to provide abortion services in Canada.

Deadline for the 2020 scholarship: May 31st, 2020.   **Due to the COVID-19 crisis, applications will be considered on an as-received basis.

Dr. Morgentaler’s provision of safe abortion services and his legal battles led to the decriminalization of abortion in Canada. Dr. Morgentaler trained many physicians at his clinics.  Through this scholarship, we honour his memory and continue the struggle for women’s reproductive freedom.
